Link preview checker

See how your link will look when you share it, check its Open Graph and Twitter Card tags, and fix what’s missing before you post it.

Checks take a few seconds. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to make sure a person is asking. We don’t store the address you check.

How link previews work

When you paste a link into a social network or chat app, the app visits the page, reads a few tags in its code, and builds the preview card from them. The card usually has an image, a title and a short description. A good preview gets more clicks. A missing one leaves your link as bare text.

The tags that matter

  • og:title and og:description: the headline and summary on the card.
  • og:image: the picture. A size of about 1200 by 630 pixels works on most networks.
  • twitter:card: tells X how to lay the card out. summary_large_image gives you the big picture.
  • og:url and the canonical link: the address you want the networks to treat as the real one.

Why previews break through redirects

Link shorteners and tracking links redirect to the real page. Apps differ in how they handle that. Some read the tags from the final page. Others read the redirect itself and get nothing. If your preview looks right when you check the final page but wrong on a short link, the redirect is the cause. This tool follows the redirects like a typical app and tells you when they change what the preview shows.

About the previews above

These cards are close approximations. Each network changes its design from time to time and may keep an older copy of your page for a while. After you fix your tags, use the network’s own refresh tool if it still shows the old version.

Frequently asked questions

Do the preview cards match what each network will show?

They’re close, but not exact. Networks change their designs, and some keep an old copy of your page for days. Treat the cards as a guide, then check the real post.

Why is my image missing?

The page may not have an og:image tag, or the tag may point to an address that isn’t a web image. The notes under the heading say which.

What size should an OG image be?

1200 by 630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio), in JPG or PNG. Smaller images can show up as a small thumbnail instead of a large picture.

Do you store the image?

No. Your browser loads the image straight from your website. We never download or keep it.

Do you keep the links I check?

No. We don’t save the address you enter or what we find. To limit abuse we keep your IP address for up to two days to count how many checks you’ve run.

Share links that always look right
